A Summertime Splurge

Welcome to our carnival, and
If you’ll only pay the toll, we’ll
Show you sights you’ve never seen and
Take you places you’ve never been.

There is candy, soda, popcorn, Nutella,
For the healthy, salads with feta;
Will it make you sick? The thought makes us shudder;
Never would we make such a blunder.

If you are into the rides, come,
Step here over to the side.
Get in line for the carts, Ferris wheel,
Merry-Go-Rounds, such pleasure you’ll feel.

At the end of today, when you are all
Worn out and well-tuckered,
Come to the dime toss and chance games;
We swear you’ll not be suckered.

With your wallets now light
And ours rather fuller,
Come see us again.  We’ll put to good use
Your hard-earned dollar.
